In the Know, By Clara Denby
Poets write about old people being funny.
About their false teeth, wrinkles and a big tummy.
They never write about our deep down feelings;
About the heartache and joys of our being.
In a world that has changed a little too fast;
How this makes us feel lost and a little aghast.
Our children think we’re not “in the know”.
They pass us by, always on the go.
They don’t stop to realize,
We would like them to sympathize.
To take a few minutes to sit and chat.
Or ask our opinion about this and that.
We have a heart and a darn good mind.
But we feel left out and a little behind.
So stop and ask us about a thing or two.
We my be “in the know” and surprise you.
